Anyone able to help "Raw" 1841 Mystery.
« on: Tuesday 11 July 06 08:42 BST (UK) »
I have got a marriage cert for John Raw/ Mary Hebden married 1850.  Age on cert shows as 26 for John.
Later Census show John born 51 Danby 61 Whitby 71 Hartoft 81 Whitby again.    His father is listed as Matthew Raw occ Farmer.
I have searched to no avail to find John and Matthew on 41.

I can't even find a possibility. Tried wild cards and first name only searches.   Any help suggestions would be well appreciated. Even if anyone looks and comes up with nothing i would appreciate it if you would let me know.

Hi

You may have discounted this one already, but I have found a John Raw born 1826 Yorkshire working as an Ag Lab at Anderby Steeple  HO/107/1243/3 Folio 5 page 6.

Found him using search terms "Jno Raw" as opposed to John.

No sign of Matthew though.

Karen :)

Hi, Karen Thanks for that but I really dont know.
Matthew was my aim to find.  It's one of those drive you mad ones.

Laura,
As you can see I'm having problems with them

This is them on the 1861  Living in Whitby
John Raw aged 37
Mary aged 35
James aged 5
and Jane aged 3

Also got some of Mary Raw (Hebde(o)ns) family living there too.

I have had no trouble finding them 51 upwards, but as you see before marriage I have nothing. as for where they ended up Jane age 3 at the time was my direct line and I know she stayed in Whitby.   As for any siblings If I ever get this problem sorted I will eventually look at them.  There was also a Hannah born c1862 and a Mary c1863.
