Can SKP help me with my family research, I have a birth certificate for my 3X Grandfather John Edwards brn at Makeney Forge, Makeney 22/ July. 1838, I have searched to try and find where Thomas and Jane were married to no avail, if anyone can give me any help it would be most appreciated.

Thanks for your message, sorry I did not understand about the Marriage.  I will visit Library tomorrow and search the 1841 Census for
Edwards at Makeney Forge, Milford Nr. Duffield Derbyshire.

Please note this is not Derby.

Just for your information the IGI 1881 Census has lots for incorrect addresses for this area.

The Building where the Forge was is still there, the address is Hopping Hill, Milford, Derbyshire

As promised I have been to the Library & Searced 1841 fiche for Makeney Derbyshire.

Makeney Forge in 1841 was 5 Houses - No Edwards Listed
" Forge Hill             "              8     "  -   No Edwards Listed

The only Edwards I could find in the area was (approx 2 miles away)
in Duffield.

 George Edwards aged 16  Male Servant born Derbyshire living
"Vicarage House" Church Street, Duffield.

The houses at Makeney were owned by the Strutt Family, and most people living in them worked at their Cotton Mills at Milford, Derbyshire.

Searched the 1851 census index for Derbyshire. They are not there either.

that is most kind of you the only other reason that I can see that they are not on the 1851 census is that married prior to moving into derbyshire as i have john's the son birth certificate brn july 1838 residence at makeney forge.
