At number 18 is 74 year old widower John Ackland cabinet maker- maybe he's Edward's dad?

Can't see the family in 1891 and I think I know why ...

In 1891, the following were living at 18 Harold Street in Bethnal Green:

John Acland, head, m, 64, cabinet maker
Henry, son, m, 30, stick dresser
Walter, son, s, 28, cabinet maker
Edward, g son, s, 15, stick dresser
Eliza Wright, aunt, s, 50
All born Bethnal Green
[RG 12/267 folio 118 page 16]

And over the page at 14 Harold Street we have the following:

John Ackland, head, wid, 64, cabinet maker
Henry, son, s, 30, stick dresser
Walter, son, s, 28, cabinet maker
Edward J., son, 15
Elise Wright, sister, 50
All born Bethnal Green

It looks like there were several Ackland families living in Harold Street for many years, doubtless they were all related.

It also looks like a mistake was made in 1891 - clearly the inhabitants of numbers 14 and 18 were the same people! This would explain why your family group was missed.

I think this was my great grandmother. She was half-French on her mother's side.

I am the granddaughter of Edith Hilda Ackland born 1896 in Harold Street Bethnal Green.  I am very keen to contact anyone who has information about her.  I would also like to know where her mother was born, I believe she was French, but am unsure why she left France.
