This is unfortunately a continuing saga, Jemima(married 29/08/1838,Rosemarkie, appears on 1841 Scottish census aged 20 under her maiden name with son Alex(Alexander) aged 2 months. Her husband John McKenzie a Mariner was stated to be at sea on the night of the Census.
I have a death of a Jemima McKenzie aged 48, Inverness 1868, widow of a John McKenzie, Ships Captain.
There appears to be a connection,( her age, his occupation etc) but her parents are recorded as Alexander and Grace Rose, both deceased.
A coincidence perhaps?
Can anyone enlighten me? Also how do I go about ascertaining details of John McKenzies occupation as Mariner/Ships Captain.
Alexander was married in Australia and cannot find immigration records at this end. It would have been around 1861 according to his Death Certificate.
Is there any way to determine on the Scottish side?
I know I am asking a lot. Regards, Maxn
