1841 Census Lookup - Darlaston, Staffordshire

Hi all.   I am hoping that someone might be able to do a 1841 census lookup for me.  I am looking for Benjamin Bailey, or Bayley, born 16 Nov 1828.  Parents are William and Sarah and his siblings were Ann b 1826, John b 1820,  Thomas b 1814 ---there are other siblings, but I am sure that they would have left home by 1841.   I would like to find Benjamin, and possibly Ann, John, and Thomas, and hope that the information on the 1841 census might be helpful.  They were living in Darlaston, Staffordshire.   Thanks a bunch.  Marge

Hi Darcy.  Thanks for your reply --really pleased to see it ---BUT-----nope, it's not the right family.  William (Benjamin's  father was born in January of 1781, so he would have been 60 years old), and Sarah (Benjamin's mother, was born about 1783).  I was trying to trace Benjamin, by looking for him, rather than his parents.  I thought using Benjamin at about age 12, it might be easier than looking for his parents.  William Bayley is listed as being a "Jobbing Smith" in 1851, so I'm open to anything at all regarding the family.  Thanks again for searching.   Marge

I thought that might be Benjamin as it looks as if his age has been rounded down.

I'll have another look around. I noticed a lot of Bayleys in Darlaston but only one other Benjamin and he was younger.

I have checked Darlston again. The only other Benjamin Bayley I can see there is just 1 year old.

Can't see a William and Sarah in Darlaston c1871/1873.

I found a possibility for Thomas living in a shared house. He doesn't appear to be with family. His year of birth is correct taking into consideration the rounding down of ages.

Hi again.  OK --How about William and Sarah's other son??  James b 1809 married to Maria (b 1810-1815)  They were married in St. Lawrence, Darlaston in Sept 1829 ---maybe that might give me a lead ---Would you mind checking James out???  I wonder where William and Sarah went??  Would you be able to check out Wolverhampton???  That is where they were in 1851, so maybe they were there in 1841 --I went with Darlaston as that is where the children were born, but maybe they moved to Wolverhampton before 1841 ---   Thanks again   Marge

Darcy:  I somehow skipped over your note on Thomas --this Thos does sound like the right one.  This Bayley family worked as Lock Smiths for generations to come.  Thanks for this bit of additional info.    Take care     Marge
