Parish clerk of Llanbeblig
« on: Wednesday 19 July 06 23:40 BST (UK) »
My 3x Great Grandfather was parish clerk of Llanbeblig for most of the 1800's. his name was Robert Price Jones. I was wondering if anyone could tell me about what his job was and was it one particular church or all of them in the area and was he an important man.   Any info on the man would be welcome.

Thanks
Diolch
Dave

Hi Dave
Are you aware of the Carnarvon Traders excellent website, it has some pages on Llanbeblig and you could ask the webmaster there as he is very knowledgeable on Carnarvon, lots of family info on the site if you surf around.

Hi Dave,

I was wondering how you got on finding out about your greatgrandfather being a parish clerk.

Two of my 3 x greatgrandads were parish clerks. One in Gwyddelwern, a John Pierce and the other was a Griffith Pritchard, not sure where he was parish clerk, but he is listed on the 1851 Llanfair is gaer census.

I too was wondering exactly what this meant and what their role would have been.
