Saltram Crescent Orphanage? Kilburn
« on: Thursday 20 July 06 13:45 BST (UK) »
Hello

One of my ancestors is listed on the 1901 census as being in the Saltram Crescent Orphanage (near Maida Vale). I cant find any references to this place and cant find it on the 1891 census.
Does anyone know where I can find any info or records about this orphanage? The head of the orphanage is Jane Ashdown a sister of charity, the sisters of charity seem to be running the place.
There is the Orphange of Mercy, in Randolph Street nearby run by the sisters of charity so perhaps this is an outlet from there...

Any help is much appreciated

Hi acceber

Can't be of much help really, though as a longshot you might want to contact Westminster Archives under which this area now comes http://www.rootschat.com/links/0l/  they may be able to tell you if they have holdings or where they may be found.

Thanks Biker,

I will try emailing the westminster archives and see if there are any records left.

Thanks again
