« on: Saturday 30 October 04 09:46 BST (UK) »
Hi could some kind soul please see if they could find in the 1871 census Sarah Melton born 1834 in Docking. She was living in Ludgen Hill Cottage, Docking in 1861 she was single and her proffession was a nurse. She had 3 orphans living with her
Harriet, William and John Parrinder they were aged 4,3 and 2 respective.
Probably the children were living else where with a new family but would like to know the whereabouts of Sarah. Thanks Anjo

Hiya,

In 1871 could this be Sarah?

Address London Road, Wangford

Sarah Mellon, unm, 37, servant, Nurse Domestic Serv., b. Norfolk, Docking.
Living with Edward and Agnes Blacket, plus children, plus other servants.

It has been transcribed Mellon, but the original record looks like Melton.
The occupation of Edward is difficult to read I'm afraid.

Source information:    RG10/1771
Registration district:    Blything
Sub-registration district:    Wenhaston
Folio:    102
Page:    19

Regards
Jonathan

HI JonathanW, I think you could have found her. The age is right, birthplace right and occupation right.

I didn't think she was married as I couldn't find a wedding for her but that doesn't mean much.

No I think its her. Thanks you have been brilliant. Would love to know the story of the children who were orphaned with her. Hopefully if I am ever lucky to trace them to some one living I might get an answer.

Anyway thanks again for that you're a star. Angela.
