Hi Julie,

I can't find James ANNETTS  in Kintbury in 1841 but there is,

1841  HO107/21/14  f.11  p.16  Kintbury, Berkshire

John ANNETTE  60  Ag Lab    Y
Mary                60  Midwife    N

If this is James and family in 1851,

HO107/1725  f.354  p.11  Eye and Dunsden, Oxfordshire

Co??? Kiln

James ANNATTS       Head   42  Brickmaker       Berks Kintbury
Elizabeth "  "             Wife   44                        "  "      "  "
Ann DAVIS               Daur   20                         "  "      "  "
Jacob ANNATTS         Son   19    Ag Lab              "  "     "  "
Herman DAVIS  Son-in-law   24       "  "             "  "  Ogbourn
Sarah    "  "       Granddaur    2                        Oxon Sonning

then this looks like them in 1841,

HO107/1076/14  f.26  p.15  Nutfield, Surrey

Hut

James ANNETT  30  B.M
Elizabeth          30
Jacob                7
Ann                 10

and further down the page is,

Thomas ANNET    40  B.M
Ann                   30
Elizabeth            10
Mary                   5
Joseph                 2

All not born in county.
I think B.M may be Brickmaker as that is the occupation of the man at the top of the page and all other working men on the page are just B.M.

Thomas and family are in Kintbury in 1851, living with his parents John and Mary :) Let me know if you need the details.

Regards
Daisy

I have just realised that is them - and they are in Surrey - no wonder I could not find them.  Ann Davis is Elizabeth illegitimate daughter (not sure if she is James's).  I wonder who Jacob's mother was ?

Hi,

I don't think Ann DAVIS is the illegitimate daughter of Elizabeth, I would think think she is the daughter Ann age 10 in 1841, who has married Herman DAVIS, but you'd have to find the marriage to prove that  :)

Here is the 1851 census,

HO107/1686  f.45  p.51  Kintbury, Berkshire

John ANNETTS  Head    77  Pauper Ag Lab  Berks Inkpen
Mary                Wife    75      "  "                 Wilts Chilton
Thomas             Son    51    Ag Lab              Berks Kintbury
Ann        Daur-in-law    41                          Wilts Gt Bedwin
Elizabeth   Granddaur    20                             "  "      "  "
Mary               "  "       15   Scholar           Hants Odiham
Sarah              "  "        6      "  "              Wilts Badbury
Ann                 "  "        3                        Berks Lambourn
Maria               "  "         9mo                     "  "  Kintbury
Walter CROCKER  Visitor  15    Ag Lab            "  "     "  "
Clara       "  "        "  "    12    Scholar           "  "     "  "

hi Daisy,

this is what I have for sure :

1832 7 May James Anneth m Elizabeth Dennis, Kintbury

1831   2 Jan Ann   d of  Elizabeth Dennis Kintbury
1827 18 Feb Sarah d of Elizabeth Dennis Kintbury

And Herman Davis is actually Henry Davis (from Ogbourne St George Wiltshire) :)  And he was also from a brickmaking family - so I guess the trade is the connection.

thanks for that  - I wonder if I can assume that my James is the son on John and Mary ?

Could you look up John Annetts in 1841 and 1851 ?  - in 1861 he was here :
1861 census  Chesterman’s buildings, St Giles, Reading
John Annetts      62   brick moulder      Kintbury
Jane Annetts      47                    Great Bedwin, Wilts
Alfred Annetts      19   brick moulder      Reading Berks

I am thinking he may be the older brother of Thomas and James, and the son of John and Mary.

thanks,

Julie

Ooh... assume...dangerous word   ;D

I would see if someone here knows where you could find the Kintbury parish records.

Silly me,  :-[
I've just realised Kintbury is by Hungerford, which is near the Hampshire and Wiltshire borders, there are other ANNETTs around this area in 1841. Would you like the details ?

Daisy

Oops crossing posts, I'll see if I can find John for you  :)
