Looking for James Hayden born c.1775 and believed to be from Thriplow Cambridgeshire.   He married Mary King at Barley in 1799 and raised their family in the town.  Any information gratefully received.

Thanks for the info on the Haydens.   I have had only one reply from that web-site during the time I have been registered.  I know where I am staying  I've had more help on this site than from any other.  Marvellous people

What a bonanza!!!  Definitely my family All the names etc fit perfectly and James Snr I strongly believe does come from Thriplow.  Can't thank you enough for the time it took to gather and post the reply. must have taken ages. My family tree is starting to look like a tree - has many branches and is now getting its leaves.

It's a while since you posted your request but the 1851 census is now available on CDRom, but no trace of James I'm afraid - he appears to have died prior to 1851 as there is an entry:

HO107/1707/399B

Smith End, Barley

William Hayden head married 30 shoemaker born Barley
Jane Hayden daughter 4 b Barley
Mary Hayden mother widow 73 pauper carpenter widow b Barley

This fits perfectly with the 1841 entry provided by Rick. What it doesn't do of course is to confirm James' birthplace. Why do people always die just before a census???

If you would like details of all the other Haydens in Barley just let me know.
