Minnie Fenton Prain arrival in New Zealand
« on: Tuesday 08 August 06 00:33 BST (UK) »
Can anyone help I am looking for the arrival of Minnie Prain to New Zealand. It was initally thought that she may have arrived with her uncle but that has proved not to be the case. Her real name was Wilhelmina Fenton Prain but according to her marriage certificate she also used the name Minnie. She was born in 1862 in Longforgan Scotland  and married  Alexander Neil in Otago on the 17 Mar 1888.  It is possible that having married in the Otago area that she possibly arrived in Port Chalmers.

Hi Annie

Would you believe according to my information there are possibly  two of them, after the death of my Wilhelmenia Prain husband Alce Neil,  she did not remarried. May have to invest in a marriage cert I think to find out for sure. Or if I could find out who submitted the entry will try to check that out. Thanks

I know you are Annie and believe me it is appreciated, her sister Elizabeth had the second name Walker, so its possibly not the same family, thanks

Hi Jericho,

Now that you are completely confused maybe the Alexander Neil in Green Island Cemetery is the right one and they did get divorced prior to 1901.

Do you have any idea what date Minnie died in 1963 or what surname she died under?

Cheers
