Hi Maureen,

Thanks for this info. I'm still trying to work it all out. I think I am descended from his first marriage to Annie N Murray. At least that's what it says on my Grandmother's birth certificate. She was Marion Parkinson and I remember hearing she spent some time in an orphanage. I also remember hearing we had Indian roots somewhere, but I never knew the specifics. Unfortuately she passed away many years ago now, so I've lost all that history. Though I believe her sister is still around, so I really probably need to get in contact with her for some more information.

I'm really interested in what you found out about the family though.

Kind Regards
Rachael

Hi Rachael

Look I am not surprised to hear that Marion spent some time in the orphanage, as for years I always thought my brother-in-law had been adopted by Fred and his wife, as he spent time in an orphanage also

Look I have found a lot of info on Fred but how do I get to you via Personal email as,  I seem to have forgotten how to do it?

Regards Maureen

I have just found your correspondence and appreciate that it is almost 10 years old, but just had to write! My husband's grandfather was the son of Clara Matilda STEARMAN, niece of Ellen Clara PARKINSON (nee STEARMAN), who was the sister in law of Cyril PARKINSON who married Stacey LALL's mother!  I have been looking for evidence of my husband's great grandmother for years, as she had him fostered at birth in 1900 and disappears for ever.  My best lead is a Clara Matilda BURNS born 1878 who sailed to Sidney, Australia in 1922 with her husband John Sebastian BURNS (although I can't find their marriage) on I believe the same boat that Stacey LALL sailed out on.  The STEARMAN family in England know nothing about her and I would just love to find someone who may remember her or know of her existence, she had a brother William Stenning STEARMAN in Sidney and I have always wondered if she travelled to Australia to be near him.  It would be lovely to know if she went on to have another family, where she lived, where she is buried, and a picture would be wonderful.

Can anyone help?

In hope, Sandra

Hi Sandra

Unfortunately we have lost touch with Maureen who started this topic as her email address doesn't work anymore.

Rachael, who also joined in, hasn't been here since 2010 but should receive an email notification that you posted and hopefully come back soon.

Thank you Dawn,
Whilst I've been doing family history for more than 30 years I have always avoided the internet until quite recently, yesterday made me feel as if I was closer to finding something out about my husband's missing great grandmother than ever before though.
