Hi Welsh Lady,  any help would be great.
Name David Williams
DOB 18 Jan 1864
Father Joseph Williams
Mother Ann Williams (formerly Thomas)
I have a copy of his birth certificate witnessed  on 2nd June 1925, unsure why he sent away for it as he was married in Australia in 1897. He died in 1949 aged 85yrs his son my grandfather was the informant and he stated 60 years in Australia. I haven't been able to find him on the shipping records over here. David Williams is a common name. Anyone I can ask are deceased now. But it seems he had a brother Edward who went along to America while David came to Australia. There was correspondence with my grandfather, Wales and Edward but when he went into a retirement village his children not knowing what to do with them I suppose thew them away not thinking about family history, he passed away in 1991, me at the time busy with my own family didn't think about it until my father passed away in 1997.  thanks Aussie4

I kinow exactly what you mean!! Did your David travel alone to Aus? Do you know where he landed? I had trouble tracing my more recent emigrants but people were very helpful and it was little bits of info that got us there in the end.

On his death in 1949 his son stated 60 yrs in Australia so I thought maybe about 1889.  He married Elizabeth Thomas (?Joshua) in a small country town of Maldon in Victoria in 1897. I am presuming he arrived in Victoria maybe a Geelong port. I have been unable to find him in the rate books. He remained in Maldon all his life in Aus. I have moved from the town myself but am known, so I go down and search myself but never seem to get anywhere. I never know where to start and whoever is on duty doesn't know much about the research side of it,as it is set up with the local museum.  Aussie4
