AKE/SHARMAN Marriage in P'boro dist 3m/e Mar 1899
« on: Wednesday 16 August 06 21:54 BST (UK) »
I'm looking for a marriage between James Ake and Jane Sharman which took place in Peterborough district sometime in the 3m/e March 1899. I haven't found Jane (born Edenham, Lincs in 1872 to George and Lettice Sharman) in 1891, despite there being one or two possibilities. By 1901 she and James were back farming at Constable Burton in his native North Yorkshire.

If you have seen this marriage in your researches, please let me know. I don't know whereabouts in Peterborough district it might have been, but they are fairly distant from my direct line and I cannot justify the expense of buying the certificate copy.

there's a Jane Sharman age 18 born Lincolnshire, working as servant / cook to family in Sheep Market, Market Harborough Leics.

RG12/2491 Folio 19 Page 30

Is she one of your possibles ?

Also notice they had son James Urbant Ake  b 1899 Peterborough
Birth index Mar 1899 vol 3b page 257

You're not going to find out much more without buying either certificate I'm afraid.

Regards John

Yes, John - thank you. That Jane is actually my "prime suspect". I've got her son James and at least one brother with other sibling possibilities to be investigated. As I said, I cannot justify the expense of certificates for people so far from my direct line (Jane was my great-grandfather's cousin). I am just hopeful of a bit of good luck here, otherwise I must accept defeat for now. Thanks again.
