Hi
i'm new to the list and an researching my ancestors because I think I owe them something. They are the reason I am here at all. I was appalled to find out that 6 out of my great-grandfathers 10 children died before they were 2. At least they are not completely forgotten

Hello Catswhiskers
and welcome to RootsChat.
I too have great grandparents who lost 6 of 10 children. Sadly it was often the case back then due to illnesses that, thankfully, are not rife today. We can only wonder at the fortitude of our ancestors - mine were certainly made of stronger stuff than me.
Good Luck with your research
