Help Needed please?
« on: Thursday 17 August 06 17:27 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find some details on a Herbert Stanley Sharp b 1893/4 in Canada. He married in St Pancras England in 1919. He returned to Canada round about 1923/24.  This is the only information I have.

I would be most grateful if anybody could tell me where I might be able to find a bmd record for Herbert.  Many thanks in advance.

Hi brads,

BMD records are provincial jurisdiction in Canada, so your ability to find a birth record for him will depend on which province he was born in  :-\  Any idea?

Do you have his marriage certificate?  Does it name his parents?  That might be your next best step.  Parents names would help us to find him on the 1901 or 1911 Canadian census...

Thank you MJP for your reply and help.  On the marriage cert it says his father was Alfred Sharp (Deceased) his profession was a carpenter. This was in 1919.

I do not know when Herbert came to the Uk or what part of Canada he was from.

Your help is very much appreciated.

Thank you KarenM for your reply.
He married Dorothy Tooth but in England.  She didn't return to Canada with him.

Thank you for this information it was very kind of you.

I do not know if this is Herberts father as I have no other details apart from what I have given above.

I thought that if I could find Herberts birth record then I could go backwards from there, but at the moment I am having no look.

I hyave had a quick look at the links you have kindly given but I will have a more detailed look when I have a bit more time.  Many thanks once again.

Hmmmm. Found an Alfred Sharp on the B.C. voter's list 1895....a carpenter....
but looked for him on 1901 and can't find him there!  J.J. Elusive fellow with elusive parent as well...
