Parish records for Hertford
« on: Tuesday 02 November 04 06:42 GMT (UK) »
Would anyone have the parish records for St Andrews,Hertford or Holy Trinity,Bengeo?Due to my location(I live and work in Portugal most of the time)I am unable to visit HALS.
I am looking for the birth and death of Thomas Lees B. Hertford circa 1812.I have his marriage to Mary Mardell(St Andrews 20/4/1835) and the christianings of their 11 children but cannot find a birth or death for Thomas.
There is a Thomas Lees b.Ashwell,Herts 1812 but this is not the one.Any pointers at all would be greatly appreciated,Peter Lee(g.g.grandson of Thomas Lees)

There is a Thomas LEE, aged 45 b Redbourn listed on the 51 Redbourn Census index, so this could well be the Thomas who was baptised at Redbourn.

Thanks for the 2 items of info but the Thomas I am looking for is definately Lees. The 1881 census taker dropped the s and my grandfather carried on using the name Lee whilst his sister Elizabeth Jane used Lees on her marriage cert. Thanks again,Peter Lee

Have you found your Thomas Lees yet?  Might be worth looking in some of the East Herts villages.  I have an Elizabeth Lees on one of my trees.  A marriage at Great Hormead in 1777.  A bit before your dates but might be worth a search.  You could also try Less as not everyone was very literate at the beginning of the 1800s.  Sorry can't be more help.
LAWRENCE - Gt Hormead, HUTCHIN - Albury, CARTER/CARTER CLAY - St Albans/Stanstead Abbotts, BURTON - Hoddesdon, WARD - Hunsdon, BEARD - Ware, LEE - Cripplegate/Glemsford
