Horsley, Hunmanby
« on: Friday 18 August 06 15:19 BST (UK) »
My Horsley surname research has got me far back as Matthew Horsley  / Horseley who married Elizabeth Clubley in 1728 at Hunmanby.
I don't know where/when Matthew was born, but would love to find out.
Elizabeth Clubley was born 1706 Hunmanby.

If any of the above features in your tree, would love to hear from you.

p.s. Does anyone know if there are any Baptism Register transcripts for Hunmanby published?

Thanks : )

Hi Arrowsdeb

I'm not sure if Hunmanby PRs are part of the collection at Scarborough  Library - they have quite a lot.  I'll have a look next time I'm in there.

Incidentally - are your Horsleys butchers?  There are butchers in Scarborough still today called Horsley and I have come across them in my research into the Sedman family (who were also butchers).

Best wishes

Hi Ticker,

Thanks so much for your kind reply.
I haven't come across any butchers yet, most of mine seem to be Millwrights in Bridlington and Driffield from late 18thC to late 19thC.
Best regards
Debbie

Hi Debbie

I called in at the Library today - unfortunately they don't have the Hunmanby PRs.  :(

Best wishes

Just wondering if you have Elizabeth Horsely born abt 1786 at Butterwick in your Tree.   She married Charles Banks at Butterwick by Great Driffield in 1804 and went on to raise a family in Whitby.

If you do, any info about her parents or Charles Banks would be appreciated.

Hi
Found this on EBay:      Hunmanby Bishop's Transcripts, 1639-1886
Transcribed from the original Bishop's Transcripts of All Saint's Parish Church in Hunmanby, East Yorkshire.  Includes over 11,000 entries of baptisms, marriages and burials. 2 MB file

It is just £3.99 with no postage as they are sent by email as an excel document, also the Burton Fleming Parish Registers have also been transcribed which can be purchased for £3.99 as well.

Hope this helps

Hi there
Thanks for taking the time to post that info.
I actually have seen that on ebay a few weeks ago and bought it. Worth every penny too, anyone with Hunmanby interests thinking of buying it well worth the money and can recommend.
It only confirmed the info i already had plus I've also consulted the original PRs now. So the hunt goes on, anyone connected Horsley/Horseley-wise , would still be great to hear from you, so matter how insignicant!
Cheers
Debbie
