Thomas Morgan SOUTHAN Completed

Would anyone have knowledge of A Thomas Morgan SOUTHAN, who I believe was born in Middlesex about 1804.
He Married a Louiza CHURCH, b Buckinghamshire abt 1811.

Thomas Morgan Southan  died in Manchester in 1879.

I am hoping to link Thomas with my family who carries the middle name of Morgan.

I have a William Morgan SOUTHAN, b USA
Horace Morgan SOUTHAN, b NZ

and Thomas had a daughter Martha who named her son Morgan.

They just have to be connected.

I don't know whether this is any help, but here are the only Thomas Southans roughly the right age with wife Louisa on the censuses.

Hi Rambler,

You are great. I feel the 3rd Thomas listed is my Thomas Morgan SOUTHAN.

My information regarding the family was in the shipping list of their journey from Northhampton in Dec. 1854. to here in Aust. The family comprised Thomas  46 yr - Farrier,
                                  Louiza    42
                                 Martha    18
and other children,    Annie, 12
                                  Harriet, 7
                                 William, 5

It is interesting to see the Mary and child Thomas. Perhaps the boy belongs to the Mary Southan otherwise he would have been included in the family journey here.

I know I sound very ignorant but which county would they have all been born in?    Middlesex?

The family came to Australia to search the gold fields and after landing,  travelled to South Melbourne where a tent city had been set up. I wonder if they made their fortune.

It seems that Louiza died in Aust. in 1871 and when Thomas died in 1879 he had returned to Manchester.

Daughter Martha married a Dublin born TURNBULL in Aust and she died here.

Sorry I wasn't clear about the county - yes, they were all born in Middlesex.  It's a pity the 1841 census doesn't show family relationships, but it's certainly possible that Thomas was Mary's child.  I'll have a look and see if I can locate him on any later censuses.

In fact, the whole family should be on the 1851 census somewhere...

Yes  they should be on the 1851 census somewhere.  Their trip to Australia in 1854 means it would be the last one over there.

Thomas probably would not appear on any others if he did not return to GB until after 1871 and died in 1879.

I know I'm a bit late on the scene with this, but I've been researching this man and his family. This is what I know...

Thomas Morgan SOUTHAN (1804-1879) was born in Manchester. 
Louisa (not Louiza as far as I can determine) Church (1811-1871) was born in Middlesex.
They married on 30 April 1832 at Cowley, Middlesex, England.
They both died in Australia.
Thomas was listed as a veterinary surgeon but was more likely a farrier, as has been suggested.

They emigrated to Australia as unassisted migrants arriving in 1855 on the 'Persia' with their 4 children - Martha (18), Anne (12), Harriet (7) and William (5).

Martha is my Great-Great-Grandmother. She married Robert Trumbull-Ward in 1856 at Bacchus Marsh, Victoria and they had 12 children in all. I am descended through their 4th child, Henry and his 2nd child, Henry Vincent who is my grandfather. My father's middle name of 'Morgan' acknowledges the family link.
