Your Life - through pictures
« on: Tuesday 22 August 06 04:09 BST (UK) »
I just received a birthday gift, what a pleasant surprise.
It was a DVD of pictures of me and others set to music
of three well selected tunes for three component parts.

It begins with a series of baby & toddler pictures of me taken in London, England,
and then proceeds through various decades.  Watching the DVD and listening to the music was a joy, but then the pictures of the folks that are gone
is sad.   It's amazing watching our youth disappear in a space of 15 minutes or so.

Some of the earlier pictures taken in London include Hampstead Heath park,
to the beach at Southend-On-Sea.  Years later, on a return trip to England
there are a few pictures taken in London, Leicester, Yorkshire and Wales.

Zelley,  Lovell, Godbold, Woods, Phillips, Lewis, Emery,
Magee, Baker, White. Flisher, Kyne, Tilston, Valence/Vallens,
Mabb/Mabbe, Bellamy, Selley, Martha Smith, Arno (of Dartmouth, Devon}.
Dorset, London, Warwick, East Anglia, Kent,  Devon
North Wales

The ancestors lived here and there, in many scattered
places, with various occupations

Now THAT sound's as though someone love's you a lot Zelley.
Thing's are so much easier to do these day's in that respect, but, not many people will/can,spend time on such a project.
A large chunk of devotion is indicated there.
Very very happy for you.
                Goggy. ;) ;D

Thanks for your interest and words.

The time to do the actual DVD was about 8 hours.  But that is likely
only the half of it.  Three different people were going through photo albums
in three different houses.   Some of the pictures, I don't even remember.

The "gift" is a gift that has no price tag because it is priceless.

Elsewhere, there is a thread about memoirs.  Safe to say, after watching a DVD
of your life over 60 years,  each picture could generate a chapter of two.
For instance, there were three pictures of me involved in boxing.  One an actual bout in 1972, the other two were training sessions in 1966 and 1965.  Now those three pictures alone bring back a flood of memories.

In various pictures three different weddings were covered (of course only one was mine).

Of the various pictures, six of the people are no longer with us.  Not many dry eyes flashing through those images.

One neat photo was my last childhood photo in London - me and two friends taken   in Upper Holloway.  I moved Canada and their family moved to Brighton.
It would be another forty-five years before I made contact again with one of the brothers now living in Essex.

Thanks!

I would think each time it is looked at
 different thoughts would flow.
It  could be a useful instrument
for crafting a few stories about family trees, home towns,
or the faces & places on "memory lane"

What a lovely idea for a present Zelley, I hope you treasure it.

I had a great uncle who was known in the family for doing cine film of every family event long before the video camera came into being.

A lot have now been put on DVDs and passed around the family when he died.  The one of my parent's wedding in 1964, is priceless, the hairstyles, the clothes, the fact that all my old relatives were young and trendy!!!!!!!

Life in '64, could we ask for much more.
It was a good year for many things.
I like the bit about the old relatives being young and trendy.
