WHICH WEB SITE
« on: Wednesday 03 November 04 16:27 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,
Can anyone help me please?  Some months ago I found a site which listed recently registered deaths.  I remember finding two relatives who had died in 2000.  Does anyone know which site this is and what the web address is please?
Thanks and regards
Jan

Is it this one?

http://webfamily.org.uk/

This site lists births + deaths.
Best wishes

Hi Pauline and Dorothy
Thanks for the address.  I'm not sure if it's the one I used or not because it's not accepting any new registrations and won't let me see the details.  From what I saw of the contents though I don't think it goes back far enough.  I'm looking for a death around 1940-50 of a 'Ginny' Watts but am not sure if 'Ginny' was her real name or the family name for her. I thought that looking for her death may help me determine her name and her approximate year of birth.  Do you know of any other web sites which could help apart from the usual FreeBMD, 1837,  Ancestry etc.?
Thanks & regards Jan   ::)

Ginny is an abbreviation for Virginia.
Southern or Southan [Hereford , Monmouthshire & Glos], Jenkins, Meredith and Morgan [Monmouthshire and Glos.], Murrill, Damary, Damry, Ray, Lawrence [all Middx. & London], Nethway from Kenn or Yatton. Also Riley and Lyons in South Africa and Riley from St. Helena.

have you tried your local indexs for the county you are searching,  i.e. i live in the Midlesbrough area so I search middlesbrough index's and if you know a rough date hopefully you should be able to find them, you will need to know what town the person died in.  hope this helps

Historically, I believe that Ginny is more often Jenny, which is short for Jane, than Virginia.
