Ricky, I'm not sure if I'm doing this properly. There is no telling who will get this message but here I go...my name is Deborah and I live in North Carolina, USA. I see here from your 2005-06 posts to Adrian that you have researched your Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Stansall family. I am researching my 1500s-1600's Stansall family for the time period of pre-1683 only because my 7 x great-grandfather sailed to Virginia leaving home there in Derbyshire forever in that year. His name was John Stansall b.ca. 1662-64 in Barlborough, his father was John Stansall from the same village and his Grandfather Peter from the same area. Relatives such as an Uncle Godfrey Stansall close by in Chesterfield. If you see this message and wouldn't might answering my questions and sharing any information you hold on this set of early Stansalls please contact me at (*) There is some wonderful (1994) research on my Derbyshire Stansalls compiled by Mr. James McNeil Stancill  from California who has since died which can be found in the Derbyshire Family History Library. Thank you Ricky. I hope to hear back from you. If Adrian receives this message will you please write me as well. Deborah from Carolina

Hi Adrian! I see you are reseaching a John Stansel b. 1843 in Nottinghamshire, England. Further, his mother was Charlotte Stansel age 40 as shown on the 1861 UK census record. I am interested in John's brother Richard Stansel/Stancill born 1852/53 listed on the 1861 census record as well. Richard married a Mary Ann Dolphin abt. 1871 and it is believed they had a son William Draycott Stancil born abt. 1877 in Brampton. There is confusion as to who William's father was; Richard's or Mary Ann's second husband's William Draycott.....who happened to be her cousin. The child's name don't help matters either, that's for sure. If you have information on Richard Stansel and/or son William will you please share with me. Anything you come across, no matter how small may be a helpful clue to this mystery! Also, do you agree that John and Richard's father was Thomas Stancll? How far back have you traced your Stancill family? We have traced back further but still have questions about Richard.  Thank you, Debbie
