Birth Registration in New Zealand in 1859 - Where and When?

Hello,

My great grandmother, Isabella Brown, was officially born 27 August 1859 in Drury, south of Auckland. However my mother said that she was really born in June but that her parents didn't get to register the birth on time, so gave the registrar the August date to avoid censure.
How soon after birth were the parents required to register it?
Where did they have to go to register? The Post Office in Drury?

Hi Charlie,

I would suggest contacting the persons at the following links. I know alot of my family born around that area, had events registered at Papakura, being the closet large town nearby. Also maybe try the Papakura Muesum, they have various info on the old families of the area. Someone should be able to assist you.
