1841 census look up -- John RILET
« on: Sunday 10 September 06 01:17 BST (UK) »
Could sks look on the 1841 census for a John Rilet.  The only information I have is his marriage from the IGI. He married a Hercliff girl.  Information as follows:

John     Rilet    and   Elizabeth Hercliff married July 5 1824 in Hull Yks.

So I think they may have been living in the Hull area ?  I know this is a long shot. But I think this Elizabeth is a sister to my Matthew Hercliff..

Cheers
Anne

Hi Anne,
HO.107/1230/11 folio 59 page 36 & 37
Trippett Street, Hull

the enumerator seems to have been a bit slap happy with his marks that show where one family ends and another begins, so I've included the name on either side just in case.

Jane Stephenson/72/widow
John Rilet/45/lighterman
Elizabeth Rilet/35

Ann Rousby/90/widow

all born in county

Hello Bee:

Once again thank you very much for the census information.  Is there any chance you could find them on the 1851 census to see their place of birth?

I wonder if they had any children?

Thank you again.  I really appreciate it.

Cheers
Anne

good morning Bee:

Thank you very much for the census information.  I really appreciate it.. This is very interesting.. You may be right about the lodges as I have a Mary Hercliffe who married a Jonathan Clarkson 1818 in Brantingham, Yks.. So far I have not found anything out about this family...  Wonder if the Emily Clarkson has any connection.. I knew it says her place of birth is Nottinghamshire but she could have married a son of Jonthan and Mary Clarkson.   Going to try and track down the niece and nephew mentioned to see who the are related to?

You have given me lots to work out.  Thanks again.

Cheers

Hello Bee:

I have just been tracking down the William and Eliazabeth Mines and I have just found the christenings on the IGI.

It states that their parents are Hans/Hanel and Miriam Mines.  This could be a long shot but Matthew named a daughter Miriam and so this Miriam could be his sister.. Also find other children to this couple and oneof the sons is namesd Frederic Wilson Mines.   Think this could be another clue. As Matthew's mother's maiden name was Wilson.

Could I ask you to look on the 1841 and 1851 for this couple?

Hans/Handel and Miriam Mines. That is if is is not too much trouble.  I tired on the IGI to find a marriage for this couple but none came up..

Thank you very much.

Cheers

Hi :)

freebmd has the following death entries

Miriam Mines, September 1/4 1848 in Sculcoates

Hans Mins, March 1/4 1848 in Sculcoates

found the same people on yorkshirebmd and it gives ages at death of 54 for Miriam and 45 for Hans

I'm assuming that Mins should be Mines

If these are the right people it explains why some of the children are living with uncle and aunt in 1851

freebmd has a birth in March 1/4 1840 for Elizabeth Ann Maens in East Sculcoates, could be the daughter of Hans and Miriam
