Birth record for Hilda Aylmore 1891
« on: Friday 15 September 06 19:17 BST (UK) »
Hi, I am looking for the birth record for my Grandmother Hilda Aylmore born on 12/6/1891 in whitstable. Father Frederick Aylmore. can find any records about Frederick other than he is named as Hilda's Father on her marriage certificate.

Also does anyone know who was living at her address when she married, she married in Blean in 1918. to William Fuller Milner -  aged 31 widower, occupation Corporal Royal Engineer service number WM 331620

her address was 2 Marmion Terrace, Whitstable, Kent. she was 27 years old.

It states that William was a widower but I have no other details of his former wife or if there were any children from this marriage. He was living at 6 Granby Terrace, Sowham, Cambridge, his father was Carlton Milner occupation master Butcher. there is a scottish connection as my Father was born in Troon, Ayrshire.

My Grandfather died in Scotland of TB and my Grandmother remarried a Harry Waite, occupation Baker. there were two children from this marriage.

My Father was born 1920 so the elder children were either born out of wedlock or may have been William's from his previous marriage I just don't know.

If there is anyone who can help in anyway to unravel this mystery I would be eternally grateful.

Kind regards Pennielane

Hi Tazzie and Pennielane

That's not Hilda's birth - though it could well be a relative of sorts (I found that one too and thought it was inintially)

Hi, Ambly, thank you for all the searching you are doing, but I am still not quite convinced that Hilda Aylmore Kelsey is my grandmother as I cant find the father Frederick which my grandmother stated was her father on her marriage certificate in 1918. but if I cant find any other details I thnik I will send for the Birth certificate and hopfully that might give me the details I am looking for.

Dear Ambly,

I have just read you replies and how interesting that you should mention a Ronald Pout, because on my Grandmother Hilda's Marriage certificate the witnesses were "wait for It"

1.  Ann Pout

2. E S Highstead

I wonder if Ann Pout was Ronald's wife and therefore Hilda's sister in law.

Hi Pennielane
Pout was the middle name in the record I found of an Ronald Pout AYLMORE birth in 1906 - guessing it is Hilda's sibling only.

So I  should guess the marriage witness surname POUT is related or an Inlaw - but not certainly not Ronald's wife or Hilda's sister in Law in that respect!

It's certainly heartening to have the probable link though!

I also wondered if the other one, Ethel Colley L.  AYLMORE could have been the one who ended up as "Polly"?? Polly/Colley?

Cheers

Don't know, but all my mother could tell me about Polly was that my father called her Aunty Polly and Hilda my grandma use to say " I quote "that Polly owned a whole street of houses in whitstable, but she lost them all through drink, my memories of my grandma were that I never ever heard her talk about her family so I didn't even know whether she has any brothers or sisters, my Mother who is still alive aged 81 can only remember a little but since I have stated to search my family tree she keeps on remembering bits of this and that, but she like I is enjoying every minute of this intriguing history. If I learn anymore I will let you know.
