McLauchlans from Ardrossan
« on: Friday 15 September 06 19:31 BST (UK) »
My great grandfather, Robert Speir McLauchlan of Cadell married Barbara Dickie of Girthill in 1874.  They had 8 children and moved to England abt 1880. Any information on either the McLauchlan or Dickie families would be appreciated. Also any phoptographs of Cadell and/or Girthill farms.
Thanks

Many thanks for that  Robert Spier McLauchlan senior was my great grandfather.  I am hoping to trace some of his brothers and sisters who went to Canada and America.
I have contacted the relatives in Australia and New Zealand, but they know nothing of the others.

Hi again
www. threetowners.com is a website for the inhabitants and expats of Saltcoats, Stevenston AND Ardrossan. It would pay to become a member [free] as there is a Genealogy Forum on the site.
Alternatively, you could try an e-mail to Ms Jill McColl at  localhistory[at]north-ayrshire.gov.uk (replace [at] with @) and ask if her area holds any data on your extended family or Girthill Farm.
Regards.
