WW2 Joseph C Martin
« on: Sunday 17 September 06 19:09 BST (UK) »
Due to the family losing my grandfather's WW1 details i have had problems finding out anything. (Joseph Charles Martin b 1898 London - vague i know lol) I have had a bright idea as my father mentioned he thought Joe served in the same regiment during WW2. I wondered whether there was an absent voters list for that period or electoral roll details that i could access. I know he lived in Bournemouth with his wife Olive and i think i may have the address. Surely i must be able to find some information?

Getting desperate now Carla

Hi Carla

Absent Voter's Lists are a great idea.  Bournemouth Library have electoral registers from c1890 so I would hope that they have some for c1918 but I wouldn't be so sure about c1945 (I don't think there were any electoral registers c1940-1944) you would have to enquire with them.

Thanks for that. I will telephone the central library and see if they can help. Makes me wish i had spoken to my grandparents more when they were alive.
