Smith in Congleton
« on: Sunday 17 September 06 23:42 BST (UK) »
Anyone out there have a John Smith and his son Henry in their tree?? I am looking for Henry, but he was born in Staffordshire c 1830 according to census records. I have checked the census for Staffs 1841 to link him with his father but no joy. I have found a Henry with his father John living in Congleton in 1841 but now need to check parish records for confirmation. Henry was working in the mills in Congleton in 1841 but if this is my Henry he then, later changed his occupation to boatman and moved to Stoke. He married Caroline Hawthorne there in 1850. I am  now reaching 'headbanging' status please help!!!!! Another mystery is Caroline Hawthorne born Hanley 1832 staffs but I cannot find her in 1841 census either, any advice Nel
