missing grandad

hi meg  you so kindly sent me a message  you said you have looked in 1901 census william edwards  age 28 born london st james  paintersa labouer

and 1881 census age 4 born city of london iv'e tryed all sites and plus lds  i cant find it do i have to pay for these census sylvia

The 1901 Census online is a pay site.  You can do a free name search, but pay for the details.  The LDS site is free.  I've copied the LDS 1881 Census details for you below:

didn't have any luck with a William with a wife Marie Rebecca, perhaps they were in the US at the time? Can you give me more information – where was Marie born??

Hi Loraine, some info is free from the 1901 but you have to pay to get any detailed info.
The 1881 census is completely free  and is on the L.D.S. Family Search page.

There is a William Edwards aged 4 born City of London on the 1881 census on www.familysearch.org
His parents were John and Louisa.   Isn't this the one you want?
