PLUNKETT m ?? Completed
« on: Sunday 24 September 06 15:41 BST (UK) »
Hi
From the BMD I find that Ada Plunkett b 1881 married in Leicester Q4 1908 either Robert Lakin or Isaac Neal.
As it is all since the most recent census, is there a way of working out which one she married?
Can you get a marriage certificate from just one name?
Thanks
Mary

Using birth indexes after 1910, look for Dakin /Neal kids b in the 'right' area and see which if any have the maiden surname of Plunkett. The fourth surname is usually good to know too.

And yes, you can get a marriage cert with just the one known spouse.

You are welcome
FreeBMD gets better all the time.
Once the mother's maiden name is known that's all you have to put in the search box (with the proviso that they were only recorded in the GRO registers from about this time).

Hi Peter
Where do you get the option to put in a maiden name? Have I been missing something ???
I'll have another look

On the search page the third box down is for Spouse/Mother surname.
Just fill that in together with a start date range date and if it's been transcribed then you will see all of the possible matches sorted by Baby's surname. (Modified)
