He m. Margaret Roberts 1744 (don't know where).
They had a son and a daughter, but I don't know either of their names or dates.
The son married (don't know who) and had a son Samuel Evans in 1810 Bala (my relative). Samuel was also a minister.
The dau. m. William Edwards b.1773 d.1853.
Please could anyone help me with the names of John & Margarets son and daughter.
Hoping I am not asking for too much help.
Regards,
Inchworm  :)

Hi Inchworm

Did they spend most of their married lives in Bala or the wider Llanycil area?

Was he a non-conformist minister?

Hi,
He was in fact a Calvinistic Methodist Minister and spent most of his life in Bala.

I have the following Bpts from Llanycil Parish Records:

18 April 1745, William s/o John and Margaret EVANS, Occ - Weaver

30 September 1746, Jane d/o John and Margaret EVANS, Occ - Weaver

12 Nov 1749, Margaret d/o John and Margaret EVANS, Res - Bala

19 May 17 51, William s/o John and Margaret EVANS, Res - Bala

17 Dec 1752, John s/o John and Margaret EVANS

19 Dec 1756, Jane d/o John and Margaret EVANS

Can't see any more. All, some or none of these could be yours. He might have not had his children baptised in the established Church  :-\

PS no sign of a Samuel Evans's baptism circa 1810 - so it would be a non-conformist baptism. I'm not sure about them  :-\

Hello Gadget,
They all look promising. Don't know how I will ever tell if any or all belong to him.  I have found an article about him on the net, but it doesn't mention who his children were.

The article does mention that at one time he was a weaver, so that would link to two of the Bapt.

Samuel was b. 1810 Bala d. 1890 Shropshire. On the 1851 Census he is in Tutbury, Staffs. as an Independent Minister. Place of b. is changed. It is given as Bordsley.
I can't find him on the 1841 Census. His wife was Jane b. 1818 Ironbridge, Shropshire.

Where the two children married in Bala/Llanycil. This would have had to have been church ceremonies in those days?

I could have a look.

PS I've made your long link tiny:

Any chance that you could modify the post with this link - it won't be so wide then  :)

Sorry. Ican't find anything definite on marriages  :-\

The dates seem to be very odd - e.g. Willian Edwards, b. 1773 - 17 years later than my last bpt record.  Grandchild born 1810. Is there a generation missing at all  :-\

I agree, the dates do seem a little odd. But then Samuels Grandaughter, Eliza Jane Evans, married a man 28 years her senior.
I have to go now, but many thanks for your help. It is really appreciated.
