1851 CENSUS TIMMINS WORCESTERSHIRE
« on: Sunday 07 November 04 16:08 GMT (UK) »
Would someone be kind enough to have a look at the 1851 Census to see if they can find SAMUEL TIMMINS born c1805 at CHADDESLEY CORBETT, near KIDDERMINSTER.

He served in India with the 39th Regiment of Foot up until 1845 but was then discharged due to ill health, aged 40.

I already have information that he was then paid a pension but would be interested to know if he appears on the Census in 1851, or subsequently. It is possible of course that he may have died by then. Also there is no certainty that he returned to his home town, he was discharged at Chatham.

Many thanks
Robert

All the 1851 Worcs has to offer is one born 1795, boatman, and one born 1809, nail weigher. Neither seems to fit yours >:( as they are born Dudley.

Hi Gardener

Thanks so much for looking, I seem to be out of luck with this one.

I have a professional researcher looking for his pension details at Kew but he also indicates that there is some difficulty.

Thing is that he could have been dead, or residing anywhere in the country, although his place of birth should remain the same.

I have seen that miss-spelt as Shaddsley Corbett, or of course it could have just been Kidderminster.

Regards
Robert

Did he marry and have a family? It might be better to search for his wife?

Unfortunately this is another unknown factor. As far as I am aware he wasn't married during his service and as he was discharged due to ill health could well have died quite soon after discharge. There are several Samuel Timmins who appear to have died between 1845 and 1851 and I am now trying to delve more deeply into some of those.
