Hello Tigster

Just to let you know that today Drogheda is in the County of Louth.  Have you checked out this website:  http://www.jbhall.freeservers.com/skeffington_-_townley.htm - there are lots of listings relating to Louth - on this page there are burials in Calvary Cemetery for Jane/James/Catherine Smith - possibly your Smiths? ...

I do not have access to the census so cannot help you there.  However, I can tell you that Scotch Hall (in Drogheda) is now a big shopping mall! Scotch Hall used to be a group of houses.  Ship Street is still there and the houses are still there as well...... please see this article:

http://www.unison.ie/drogheda_independent/stories.php3?ca=40&si=1574153&issue_id=13761

I have sent a text message to Mr Gerrard who is compiling the book to ask him if his publication is completed - so I will post back if I get a reply.    UPDATE:  got reply from author and the book is not finished yet but almost finalised - I have a contact number for him if you would like to call him?  If you want to call him - just pm me and I'll pass you on his telephone number - he advised that he could maybe include something on your ancestors in his book!! ...........anyway, just let me know!!

Do you know what number was the house in Ship Street - they still stand and I could try to locate it for you and get a picture possibly.

Hope this helps somewhat, kind regards, Karen

No problem Tigster... glad to be of some help!.. I'll pm you that author's number anyway - he may very well be able to point you in the right direction of who lived where in Scotch Hall/Ship Street - his point is near completion and he mentioned he might be able to include your ancestors inthe book!..

Kind regards, Karen
