International Genealogical Index
« on: Saturday 30 September 06 03:55 BST (UK) »
Hello
I've recently had useful help on locating ancestors using the International Genealogical Index site. Can anybody tell me if the places mentioned on the following christening records are in fact villages or churches:

1. Thomas BUGDEN 27 Feb 1716-Saint Edmunds,Salisbury,Wiltshire

2. Joseph BUGDEN 24 Aug 1765-Saint Mary,Wilton By Salisbury, Wiltshire

Cheers Greg

Hi Greg

They would be parishes (churches) - St Edmunds is within Salisbury. If you look at Genuki for Wiltshire you should get a good description of same

There is a town of Wilton with churches St Mary and St Nicholas, so this is probably your second parish

According to the "nearby places" Wilton is 3 miles from Salisbury.
