lookup request please for Easby census 1841 to 1871
« on: Sunday 01 October 06 15:29 BST (UK) »
looking for a family group including robert alderson (father) jane alderson(mother)
son (possible)henry
daughter ann (my g.g. grandmother) she was born 1840 or 1842 some sources differ
her parents married in Easby church in october 1831
i seem to have come to a deadend at present so any info would help
and if i may ask how would i go about tracing anns parents death certificates
there seems to be so many aldersons in richmond area it would cost an arm and a leg to pay for all the certificates
is there a way i could narrow them down to say 4 or5?
many thanks
alex :-\

You're very welcome, Alex  :D  :D  :D

I can't identify the parents in 1861 or later  :-\

Jane and Thomas are in service, Henry is married, Ann (Dairy Maid) and Mary (Kitchen Maid) are both servants at Sedbury Hall Gilling to George Gilpin Brown Esq.

 8) Thanks Alex.

When does Ann marry?

There is an Ann Alderson age 31, serv, unm, Cook, b. Skeeby

in service at North Stainley (Old Kenningford Hall) in 1871.
Head of household is Anne Elizabeth Staveley, wid, 49, Landowner, b. France
(12 servants for this lady and her 2 daughters  :P )

dear TATI
Ann moved to a large shooting estate near where I stay ,  namely girvan ayrshire
she married my g.g.grandfather alexander mclaren in1875 in kirkmichael ayrshire
I often wondered how a country girl arrived to ayrshire from yorkshire in those far off days and i suppose some laird from the big hoose in kirkmichael would be visting or shooting at his friends house in this case sedbury hall and perhaps she returned with him to scotland
kind regards
alex

DEAR TATI
onlooking at when ann married 1875 she would still be single as you stated in your last post
as i have no idea as to when she arrived in ayrshire prior to her marriage this could be her in the 1871 census
i can not recall finding her on the scottish census
so a very good chance that you have found her
could i ask you one more thing about robert alderson in the 1851 census
is is age 66 or should it be 56 can i ask you to ckeck
many thanks again
