Watermen - records?

I have seen various messages regarding the occupation of waterman & that those in the Thames area were well documented.  Does anyone know if the same can be said for Newcastle in the 1750's?  Any pointers gratefully received.

Hi Leigh,

You might want to contact the archives people at www.tyneandweararchives.org.uk as they appear to hold the records for Trinity House Newcastle so you never know they might have something pertaining to watermen in the area that you are looking for.
