NEWELL

I am trying to trace J. NEWELL born after 1874 and killed in 1917 in WW 1.  The  " J"  should be either James or John and he married Margaret who later became Margaret PRINGLE.  They would have married in Glasgow or surrounding area I think.  He would also have a brother George who I would also like to know more about.  All are the children of William NEWELL and Sophia SIMPSON.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

You will be able to view the marriage certificate on Scotlandspeople at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk. It is pay per view with 30 credits costing £6 and it costs 1 credit to view search results and 5 credits to look at an image.

Playing around with the search(without looking at the results as I'm out of credits) I can see that there are two J Newells who married a woman called Margaret in the period 1890-1917 in the whole of Scotland. Typing in James as a first name still returns two hits. These two James Newells who married a Margaret both married in Dunbartonshire(very close to Glasgow).
You would also be able to find the birth of J Newell on there if born in Scotland and his brother George. Can see William and Sophia's marriage on there so probably was and a death that looks like Sophia's is also showning up.

Many thanks for your reply and suggestions.  I will certainly have to look further in your suggested direction which will hopefully give me some more answers.
