1821/1831 census look up please
« on: Sunday 08 October 06 12:18 BST (UK) »
Hi all
I have just seen another post that said that the Census was taken in the years of 1821 & 1831 - if so, can anyone do a look up for me on the Smith Family of Moreton, Essex as  per previous post.

I am trying to establish if Philip Smith in particular was still around the house in 1821 - but all other material would help me greatly.

Cheers

Hi MC - just checking you dont mean -19-21 and 31 ? If so, they arent yet available ...

There are no 1821/31 census for that part of Essex still around - altho' a surprising number of pre-1841 census do exist for Essex places ....

Thank you for responding to my post
But no - not 1900's - 1800's, but found this on Essex Rootschat (see below) - somewhere a long way back. I thought that there were no Census for such early years, but then when I found this I thought I was wrong...Obviously it is misinformation...

Do you have any suggestions of how I can find out more on the Smith family of Moreton?
Regards
MC

Hi - ask Chris via PM if he knows more ? The dates you post look like when those census were conducted across the country in those years.

Otherwise its Archive Offices in Essex

This link should get you started ..

It may be that the LDS / IGI has xtracted original registers for that Parish too ...

Looks fairly comprehensive up to 1812 ...

Thank you for that!

I don't know what Chris it was to send a PM to - I can't recall where on the 13 pages I found it!! I just copied the dates etc down.

But I will work on it later...

I will jump straight in with what you have shown me.

Of Course :-[

By the way - I got a lot of Smiths and Britons/Brittain from the batch # you lined up for me.

I have been trying to prove that this family were ours - and everything thus far looks like it is.

I have got to head to blanket bay for now as it is very late and I have been on this thing almost all day

Speak to you again soon
