« on: Wednesday 11 October 06 05:30 BST (UK) »
while reading the Northowram Register of burials ( just for something to read lol ) i found a few entries that suprised me
Jonas Rushworths wife of denham was at Halifax on Saturday Jan 25th 1678, came home, went to bed, found herself cold, askt her husband to come to bed, put herself to his bosom, instantly breathed her last.

Capt Taylors wife of Bridgehouse died Oct 28 buried in their garden with head upwards standing upright by her husband ,daughters etc .Quakers

Mrs Mary Kirby buried in her garden by her husband who was buried 12 months before.

Just goes to show what gems can be found by reading original registers.

These are priceless  ;D ;D ;D

I can't get the vision of Capt Taylor's wife buried in the garden standing upright out of my mind!!!!

It must of saved lots of spaces. Especially in overcrowded cemeteries.

I keep chuckling when I think of Mary Kirby being buried by her husband in the garden, who had been buried 12 months before.

I bet it was the shock that killed her!!!!!!

There are some really funny ones in Tombstone Humour by Richard De'ath (appropriate name)

Here lies John Higley
Whose father and mother were drowned
on their passage from America.
Had both lived, they would be
buried here.

In Belturbet churchyard, Ireland
