Parish Records for Somerset Old Pier Weston super
« on: Wednesday 11 October 06 11:11 BST (UK) »
Hi you knowledgeable people of Somerset.

Firstly I am trying to find a death but have failed with the BMD Ancestry.  Next move Parish Records.  The birth
1907 Harry Hardcastle Johnston registered Axbridge. cannot find any further record.

Also I am told I had a relative surname Johnston who worked on the Old Pier.  Would there be any records of past employees.

Any Help please.
Thanks
Jill

Hi Jill

Is it Harry H Johnston's death record you're after? If so any idea of when it was?  The FreeBMD indexing of deaths (which Ancestry use) is currently up to about 1910.  The only other way, if you can access ancestry, is to plough through each quarter.

I'm going to WSM library this afternoon - I'll ask if they have records of the Old Pier.

I'll have aquick look at the PR's but I don't think there are any for the 20th century on fiche.

Cheers

Hi

The librarians conferred and said they didn't have Employee records for the Old Pier.

I did look at the 1908 directory and found

H H Johnstone living at Heimarnas, 4 St Johns Terrace, Lower Church Road.
He wasn't listed under any of the trades, nor were there any Johnstones there in 1912.

Cheers
