Am I right in assuming the SS means the start of the next record?
And G G means girl? But why twice?

I think the letters are B, B, for born and baptised.  Glancing at other entries on those pages, I saw that the same letters were written for a lot of other baptisms. I assume it means that Honor was baptised on the same day she was born. One of my families belonged to that parish but the only baptism I've found is in the next volume which begins in 1850s and the style was different. There are missing years and unreadable pages, hence I could find only 1 of 5 of mine who should be there.
What makes you think there may be a connection between this family and the one in Ballina, or are you casting a wide net? Is it the names Martin and Charles?

Thank you Maiden Stone, that makes sense.
The reason I think there may will be a link is that I had an Ancestry DNA done, and its showing a 4th/6th cousin match to 3 different people with Martin Loftus as their ancestor.
I think that my Great Grandfather's parents must be Anthony and Honor because oi this.
He was born in 1861. Previous searches for his birth record have not been successful.

From the DNA matches, I'm pretty sure that my G Grandfather Charles was born to Anthony Maughan and Honor Loftus in 1861-62, probably in Cloona (Kilfean parish) like his supposed siblings.
I've tried searching the civil records, and the parish records for Cooneal and Kilmoremoy without luck, whilst the favourite, Kilfian only has parish records up to 1836.
Assuming then, that there is no hard evidence for this, how can I put a % likelihood on it from my DNA matches?
I've got four known 4th cousin matches to people descended though different lines from Anthony & Honor
