WW1 Wounded????
« on: Sunday 15 October 06 14:21 BST (UK) »
Hi all.

I have just received Army records for a Eric Lee Shubart who was wounded in the first world war, it seems it took 2 years for him to recover and then he was pensioned on disability.

What I can't find is what he's wounds were, there are 8 sheets covering his recovery but its all in abbreviation,
Like: unfit G.S.& H.S.6 weeks on & by.
         unfit L.& D. 3 weeks
         unfit G S 4 months in & by.
         unfit H S 2 months
         unfit L D  1 month
 Fit for treatment only.

He was in a Swedish hospital 24/6/1917.and then transported back to the U.K 3/7/1917 according to the arrival report
Does anybody understand any of this.I do hope so ? ???
Thanks for any help,  (if any at all) Belle.

Hi bell2

You got an awful lot of lovely information there! Do you know when he joined up?

Interesting the Swedish link !  :D More about him might help, have you got his military number, rank or regiment ?

Did you download all that info on his medal card for £3.50 or by another link?

Wendi :)

Hi Wendi & mack.
I came across Eric Shubart while looking for his father, David Shubart. It would seem that all the Shubarts are mine including the shipping lists that came up on the N A, which was very lucky for me as I also had another brother of Eric, (David Stanley).

It would seem that Eric want into the army as a cadet in India 1909 in the Maxim Gun Company then the 7th Reseve Middlesex 21/9/1916 and then  the (hes fathers Regts)  Loyal North Lancashire,25/1/1917 where he remained till pensioned of due to disability
I had 19 pages of information on Eric and 10 on David Stanley, which gave me a lot about his back ground and also a letter from his father to a  Capt Evans regarding birth certificate and forms. He also served in East Africa during the war. There is just to much to put here, but it gives people an idea what you can get from the army records.
If anybody would like a look at any of  the documents I would be happy to put them on just to give an idea of what they mite get.

Belle,

Did you get the actual army records from the website? I can only find the bit where I can find the reference to a microfilm roll (e.g. WO363/W 325) it then tells me I have to go to Kew to see the records.

Hi Mike.
I got Eric Shubart from catalogue ref: wo 374/62229 & David Stanley Shubart from wo 339/139317.
I think its just luck if you find the person your looking for when you put their name in and also your more likely to find them if they were Officers. other wise you have to find the catalogue ref wo number that their likely to be in and ask for an estimate with as much info on them as you can get, ie:name regt and regt number dates and places any thing that will help them to find them, then you can order it by post or other the internet, hope this has been of help.
