Are the Johnsons the Shaws or what?
« on: Sunday 15 October 06 16:31 BST (UK) »
Can anyone explain the following:
1871-Over Hulton-Lancashire. The family surname given for the family below is Shaw, but the family from William down fits exactly William Johnson, wife and kids in 1881. Also occupation fits. Could Richard and Ann be William's parents-in-law??
RG10/3921-32-14
Deardens
SHAW
Richard  48 head b Duxbury  Farmer of 14 Acres (Duxbury is on southern edge of modern day Chorley)
Ann 48 wife b Farlton(could be Tarlton)
William 27 son b  "           "    Lab at Colliery
Ann E 27 sons wife b Rumworth
Susannah 6 Grandaughter b Over Hilton
Anne 4                "                       "
Martha 2              "                      "
William 1 Grandson b                  "

I am actually looking for a William Johnson b.1843 Hesketh/Tarleton who was living with his parents in 1861. I strongly suspect that the above "Johnson" should be "Shaw"  ???

Heywood,

Many thanks for the interest - that is the correct family you have posted in 1851/61/71. I have found the solution with CaroleW's  help - I think :-\
