1901 census for Scotland
« on: Wednesday 10 November 04 00:43 GMT (UK) »
Help. I am trying to find my great grandparents. Is there a 1901 census for Scotland?  My grandmother was born in Glasgow Scotland, June 1901, Her parents were William Boyd, His wife's name was Mary. My grandmothers name was Margaret Boyd, and she had an older sister Mary. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Mary

Hi Mary,
Welcome to RootsChat. I am a relative newcomer here myself and have found this to be the friendliest and most helpful genealogy site on the whole world wide web. :)
I am no expert on research in Scotland, but here are a couple of useful websites to start you off on your quest.
Scotlandspeople has census records. It is pay-per-view, but quite reasonable, I think.

I have used ScotlandsPeople and find it very good (reasonable pricing - although you only get a short period of time to use your credits) - BUT read up on using wildcards in your searching - can save money and grief when looking for misspelt or alternate name spelling. It's probably somewhere among their help or freq asked questions.

They have 1881 1891 and 1901 Census and all BDM indexes and Civil registration images.
