Hello Monica,

I'm looking for a Daniel and Grace Thomson.

They were married in West/Old parish in 1809. He was a ship's master.

I did find another Daniel and Grace, about the right age in Port Glasgow, but they are not mine.

Thanks.
Sheila

The only other obvious Daniel that I can see, without Grace, is:

I'll go back and see if any other entry stands out.

Sheila

Which Grace was Daniel married to (looks to have been two families at the same time...doesn't help does it!):

Grace Cunningham (I think this is probably the entry you found in Port Glasgow) or Grace Carmichael?

Thanks. I'm not sure. The age would be about right.
Daniel was married to Grace Cunningham.

The only other recognizable name on that list is Helen Thomson, whom I think was their youngest child.

What on earth is a seavager!!

'Seavager' I would think is a mistranscription from the original entry. I would imagine if you looked at the original page it might be a bit clearer (we hope!).

Final point on ages, in the 1841 Census, ages were supposed to be rounded down to the nearest 5 for everyone over the age of 15. Children under 15 were supposed to have their actual age recorded.
