HICKMAN Marriage lookup
« on: Monday 23 October 06 23:12 BST (UK) »
Hello

Does anyone have the means to lookup the marriage of Josephus Henry Hickman that took place in 1858?

Any details at all would be of help as I am wondering if he is my Josephus Henry Hickman who was born in Leeds.

Thank you

Hi

A marriage entry will not show his birthplace - only the address he was living at when he married.

The GRO reference is needed if somebody is to look up the entry and freebmd has it as June quarter 1858 Plymouth 5B 457

He married either Elizabeth Jane Ricketts or  Esther Boulder

Have you looked for him on the 1881 census which is available free at www.familysearch.org

If you would post more detailed info re:: his birthyear plus names of children etc, we can look for him on the 1861/71 censuses for you

Hi

Thank you for the reply, I was hoping the marriage entry may show Jospehus's father as being George Henry Hickman who was a cloth dresser.  And that Josephus may have been born around 1838.

I have children listed for Josephus but these were to his second wife who he married in Leeds after being widowed.

It is a long shot that this Josephus is mine, but as the name is unusual there could be small chance.

Cheers
