American death records

Please could someone tell me how or where i can find a death
record for a relative who emmigrated to Brooklyn N.Y(1920)
I have no idea of when he died.

In the US, death records are recorded in the State and local government. You would need to know at least the state they resided.(or if they had a social security number, you could apply for a social security death record. Not always as good as a death record from the locality)

Hi thanks for that Kristen. All the info i have is as follows.
Name Thomas Milne born abt 1882  in Aberdeen Scotland ,immigrated to Brooklyn Usa in April 1920 on the ship
Royal George.According to ships record he went to live with his
sister in law(Mrs C Jorral) in Bay Ridge Brooklyn. He was a Qaurrier stone mason to trade.he was married when he immigrated but his wife never went to America, Idon`t know if he stayed in the area but it is thought he never returned to Scotland
and died in America.
