ISLE OF ST. HELENA: West African Colonies: Birth information

Hello all,

I'm not sure whether the person in my tree is strictly an immigrant but I was advised to try here from my post in "The Common Room"

I have 3 children all born on the Isle of St. Helena, West African Colonies:-

Annie E Sowden, about 1857
Margaret Sowden, about 1859 birthplace given as James Town
William Sowden, about 1866

They are the children of Margaret, who was also born on the Isle of St. Helena, about 1831.  She married Thomas Sowden a dock labourer from Hull.

It is possible that the children are from a previous marriage or they could be Thomas' as I have only got information for him from the 1871 census (with Margaret and the 3 children) residing in Chatham, Kent.

I don't know how to move forward from here, a copy of Margaret's birth certificate would be useful, but any help and suggestions are very welcome.

Update:-  I've found someone else researching the same family, and have been able to share information with them.  Thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction.
