the link to Ian Marr's web site - South West cemetery headstones
with details of George's burial at Birregurra Cemetery.

I could not find a death index entry for the Rebecca - her death may be registered under another surname.

Thanks for that Christine.  I looked at Ian Marr's site and at George Stannard.  He can't be my George Stannard as the dates don't fit in with my research, but thank you anyway.

Hi
A little more on Stannard men
At the Birregarra cemetery the following
George Stannard. b. 21/4/1920 d.1/3/1970  VX111845 H.Q.3 Aust Division.

On the WW2 nominal roll site -
George Stannard b. Camperdown, 1920 lists as Next of Kin Thomas Stannard

Also on same site
Thomas William Stannard b. Camperdown in 1895 NOK Ellen

http://www.ww2roll.gov.au

So I think a connection here to each other.

Thank you Jen, Sue and everyone.  Yes Thomas and Ellen Stannard were Doreen's parents.  Ellen met Tom Stannard in England and came out with him to Australia after marrying him in England.  Yes, Ellen's mother was Fanny Clarkson, her father was Joseph Wigglesworth (illegitimacy).  Anyway, Doreen was born in Victoria, just would like to know when.  Have had no joy so far in trying to find out, but will keep trying.  Thank you for your help.

Silas.

So  thi  birth  that Christine  has  found  one  would  assume only  that  it is  the crorrect son George
BUT

Thomas William Stannard  war record  says  born Campberdown    1895 and  he has served in WW1 in Australia

so  is  there two  families with  extremly similar names or what

Jenn - you have the correct George Stannard in :-

George died 1970 Reg. 5589 - his parents are the correct ones - do you know his date of birth please?  His mother was originally Ellen Wigglesworth-Clarkson, reason being she was illegitimate and her father's name was Wigglesworth, mother Clarkson.  Her mother then married a man by the name of George Goodall, so she obviously took on his surname.  It looks like George was born out of wedlock then before Ellen married Thomas Stannard.
