When I started doing family history I thought we were 100% English but didn't have to go far back to find a Welshman. Mind you, English makes it easier to trace. The only info I have about where my Welsh ancestor came from is 'Wales' on the census form and 'Raneghly, Wales' on another. Worked on Llanelli then found dozens of places in Wales that could have sounded like Raneghly to the enumerator. And just try finding a David Price in the Welsh records!!!  :o

I'm about a third English but OH is 100% English and I've gone back to 1600s and further on most of his lines.

In fact, he seems to be the first of his main paternal line to have moved more than 30 miles from Salisbury plain. I think they were there before Stonehenge  :o :o :o

To be honest, it was far easier to research than my mixed ancestry - and Roobarb try John Jones  :-\

My direct ancestry is scattered to the 4 corners of GB. Some siblings in the past went further afield!

Found though that the Welsh side did orginate in Warrington in 1819 though so now 50% English 25% Irish and 25% Scottish
